2) Mapping out the resources of time, equipment, staff, and location(s) necessary to start action.

‘The Reality of Your Idea’

1. Do I need to have my production shot in Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD)?
It depends. Ask yourself, who is the audience, what is the goal of your message and on what media will your final product be viewed? The answer to these questions can help you decide whether or not you need SD or HD for your product. For example, if you are making a TV commercial featuring a business, it may not be cost effective to shoot in HD if the spot will be shown on a local channel that doesn’t transmit in HD.
2. How much will it cost to produce and Independent Film?
There is no question that having a substantial budget will be beneficial in the total production of the film. But don’t let budget stop you from putting your creative ideas into action. There are all types of resources that can be secured by voluntary work and movie credit. It is important to note, that what you put in is what you get out… so while you are saving in some areas, you will have to spend some money to make sure you are getting quality work with accountability. Click on the ‘Interest Form’ to tell us about your project and we will get back with you promptly in making your ideas a reality!
3. What if I have my own resources to bring into a project?
Sometimes you can’t get enough help on a particular project. We certainly don’t mind working with others and can always network with more people in this profession. In the consulting phase of your project we will sit with you and discuss what options will best suit your needs. In some instances you may find that the resources we have is right on target, leaving you with one less thing to worry about.
4. How do you edit?
Editing is a meticulous process that needs attention to detail. We edit using Final Cut Studio and its add on features to produce a top quality product. We will establish up front your expectations for editing relieving you of the time consuming process. So whether you would like to be involved in every step of the process, or whether you would like us to add our creativity to the project, we will consult with you up front.
5. When do I pay for the project?
Generally, the total project cost will be divided in half. The 1st half due at the beginning steps of production and the 2nd half upon delivery of the finished product. *Note: 20% of the 1st half is non refundable upon signing of the contract. The 20% is a retainer fee for holding the dates involved in completion of your project. As will be stated in the contract, circumstances not related to our responsibilities will not warrant a refund of the retainer.
6. What if I only need services for some parts of my project?
This happens often. You may only need a DP and film crew to produce the project and you’ll have someone else edit, or vice versa. No worries. As mentioned in our ‘other services’ (link) we can help you in various stages.
7. Who keeps the raw footage?
Once you’ve contracted us for the work, the raw footage is yours. We keep copies of the footage for up to 1 year, unless otherwise stated in the Agreement. Depending on your project we may ask to show / display a sample of your project to others for our marketing and / or demo reel.
8. Will you consult us on our idea for free?
Certainly. As the saying goes, ‘you never know if you don’t ask’. It’s in the energy of creativity that we work best. ‘Let us know about your project.’ To get started!
